Dr. Roffers first assesses whether or not the couple wants to continue the relationship and if each person will accept responsibility for his or her contribution to the problems in the relationship.  Using couples counseling as a way of trying to change the other person simply does not work.

He then addresses the three sources of relationship problems by coaching the couple to recommit to treating each other like they did when they were courting and trains them in a communication skills model designed to help them resolve their differences and disagreements respectfully and collaboratively.  If one or both can not maintain enough emotional control to do this, Dr. Roffers works with each person individually to assess and treat the unresolved issues from the past that may block the relationship, returning to the couples work when each person is ready.

Please see Dr. Roffers' book RECIPROCAL SOVEREIGNTY: Resolving Conflict Respectfully for further information on how he trains couples to communicate more effectively. Available on amazon.com.

Dr. Roffers works with couples in his office only.

While the allopathic medical model has saved many lives and proves indispensable when acute injuries and illnesses occur, Dr. Roffers believes that most ill health results from toxins in our environment, inadequate nutrition caused by processed foods, lack of sufficient exercise, too much stress caused by our pace of life, unresolved trauma and negative beliefs.

Dr. Roffers uses a method called Autonomic Response Testing (ART) developed by Dietrich Klinghardt, MD to help clients grow as healthy as their genetic endowment will allow.  ART uses the most advanced methods of muscle testing to assess toxins in the body and to detoxify those substances through state of the art cleansing procedures and whole food nutritional supplementation.

Dr. Roffers practices wellness coaching in his office in Oakland, California.  Given the nature of this work, he must limit phone consultations to follow up sessions.

Dr. Roffers currently works with clients using a new method of Energy Psychology called Advanced Integrative Therapy. This method uses muscle testing to make sure the client’s autonomic nervous system communicates accurately about what needs treatment.  It proceeds by healing traumas and transforming dysfunctional beliefs using the electromagnetic energy in the chakra system, and culminates in behavioral changes.  Further, it opens the portal to spiritual growth and development. “Three major problems threaten marriages or partnerships:  (1) one or both partners neglect to treat the other with the same respect and attentiveness that they did when they courted.  (2) They have not found a mutually acceptable way of dealing with their differences.  (3) One or both have unresolved issues from their family of origin or past relationships that they project onto the other.”
